Key to the sustainable growth of the sub-region's population is the provision of new and diverse employment opportunities within the area and fundamental to achieving higher value employment growth is a mix of physical and non-physical infrastructure investment.
Together with partners, NNDC's activities for delivering higher value economic growth include:

- Working alongside Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd (NEL) to actively promote the long term economic growth of North Northamptonshire and the wider sub-region
- Developing further the Sub Regional Economic Strategy in conjunction with stakeholders to produce a North Northamptonshire Economic Action Plan
- Improve employment site opportunities working to assist local authorities to priorities, through the LDD process, quality site provision to meet the changing economic picture

- Tackling the skills gap by defining with partners the Education, Learning and Skills Vision for North Northamptonshire
- Working to improve the level and coordination of Inward Investment and investor development activity
- Taking forward the Technology Realm study to raise the level of knowledge economy and value added employment
- Securing the delivery of the Corby Enterprise Centre, and similar initiatives across North Northamptonshire to secure the economic step change this supports
