North Northamptonshire has a resident working age population of over 180,200 people (ONS mid-year population estimates 2005) and is a net importer of jobs from surrounding areas. It is estimated that over 3000 in-migrants from new accession states (A8) have moved into the area.

Significant progress has been made towards a new, completely rebuilt college for Tresham Institute of Further and Higher Education in Kettering and the college expects to be operating from its new buildings from early on 2007
