New manager of Corby Enterprise Centre makes first signing

08 November 2010

The first tenant of the Corby Enterprise Centre, the town’s new £8.3m hub for local businesses and entrepreneurs, has been revealed as a fast growing design agency from Northampton.

Melli UK, a company that specialises in providing marketing advice and communication materials to some of the biggest consumer brands such as Mars, Heineken, Danone, Johnson & Johnson, Pedigree and Whiskas, will shortly move into the Enterprise Centre ahead of its official opening in December 2010.

The finishing touches are currently being made to the Corby Enterprise Centre, which is being built on the site of Priors Hall Park, the major residential development and new community taking shape to the north east of Corby, and adjacent to the new £30m Corby Business Academy.

It is envisaged that the 32,000 sq ft of high quality employment space provided by the Enterprise Centre will create a significant number of highly skilled jobs by attracting a number of vibrant and diverse young companies to Corby.

The development has been designed to provide ideal accommodation for entrepreneurs and start-ups to realise their business ambitions as well as giving existing small businesses access to flexible office and workshop space to allow them to grow.

With different sized offices and studios suitable for between 2 and 25 people, the Enterprise Centre is destined to be a lively new focus for business activity in the area.

In addition to 24/7 access, free car parking and high speed communications, the Enterprise Centre will provide tenants with unique on-site support including access to a network of business development experts from a wide range of industries as well as secretarial services.

Shared facilities such as a boardroom and meeting rooms are also available to allow a cost effective and convenient means for companies to hold training events or client presentations.

Melli UK will be welcomed to the Enterprise Centre by the newly appointed Centre Manager Stuart Hartley. Stuart brings vast experience of working with new businesses to the role from De Montfort University, where he ran the successful Innovation Centre, providing incubation support and accommodation for a variety of start-ups.

Stuart Hartley, Centre Manager said:

“The Corby Enterprise Centre is one of the most exciting enterprise and innovation buildings that I have seen. It’s a fantastic building and one that will attract and support new and emerging businesses such as Melli UK.

Going forward we would like Corby Enterprise Centre to be at the forefront of business activity in the area and we would encourage small and large businesses alike to consider the centre as a base. “

Richard Mellon, Managing Director of Melli UK, said:

“Melli UK is incredibly excited and proud to be the first tenant of the Corby Enterprise Centre.  The facilities of the Centre are first class and will provide Melli UK with the ideal foundation to continue the growth and prosperity of our business.”

Simon Evans, Chief Executive of NNDC, said:

“The Enterprise Centre is an important step forward in generating balanced economic growth in Corby. From the outset, partners set out to deliver the perfect home for anyone with a business idea and ambition and to remove any obstacles to small businesses wishing to expand.

Melli UK is the first of many new enterprises that the Corby Enterprise Centre will attract to the town.”
