Corby Borough Council and North Northants Development Company (NNDC) were jointly recognised on Thursday 15th October for driving two main regeneration projects forward in the town at the East Midlands Regional Construction Awards.
The prestigious awards evening, hosted by Quentin Rayner, the Chief News Reporter for East Midlands, was attended by over 300 industry representatives and guests. The awards recognise innovation, skills, training and sustainability in construction across the region.
Corby Borough Council and NNDC attended the awards and walked away as joint Client of the Year for driving best practice through the Corby East Midlands International Pool and Corby Rail Station projects.
This is the second award both projects have picked up in less than a month after the International Pool was awarded the Public Building of the Year and the Station picked up Regeneration Project of the Year at the East Midlands Property Dinner on 1st October.
The £20m Corby East Midlands International Pool and £8.3m station have been key projects in the Borough’s regeneration programme and have had a positive impact on the town by providing further sporting opportunities and linking the town directly to London.
Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Pat Fawcett said:
“We are extremely happy that we have picked up yet another award for our regeneration projects. The international pool and station are iconic buildings in Corby and have made a real difference in the Borough and in the regeneration of Corby as a whole.
“Corby Borough Council and NNDC being awarded jointly as Client of the Year shows the real partnership work that is put in to make the regeneration programme a success. Corby is a bigger, better, brighter Borough and with other projects such as the Corby Cube in construction we are looking forward to further awards in the future.”
Simon Evans, Chief Executive of NNDC, said:
“This Award is further recognition for the great strides Corby continues to make towards its regeneration goals.
"It provides further evidence for investors and developers that the local partnerships are in place to really get projects moving and NNDC is delighted that the Corby Railway Station project was also highly commended by judges of the Infrastructure Award.”
