Stanton Cross - Wellingborough

Outline planning permission for 3,100 new homes was granted in January 2008 for this major Sustainable Urban Extension to the East of Wellingborough.

The development by Bovis Homes will trigger significant investment in infrastructure and deliver employment space for more than 3,000 jobs.

In addition to new housing, the proposed mixed use development includes:

  • a neighbourhood centre with doctors’ surgery, supermarket, shops, a community hall and a primary school
  • 40 hectares of industrial and commercial development
  • new public transport links and interchange
  • new and enhanced walking and cycle routes
  • a town park

Fact File

Stanton Cross was named by Bovis Homes after a competition was run through the Evening Telegraph.

Stanton was the name of the formed Ironworks company who operated in the Wellingborough area in the 1930's. Cross comes for the connections of both the river and the rail crossings linking the development with the town.
