The Eastfield Urban Quarter fulfils the Borough Council’s vision to create a high quality sustainable community that will form part of the Wellingborough East urban extension.
Located on a 16 hectare brownfield regeneration site, next to Wellingborough’s main line railway station and the town centre, this development will provide up to 1,000 new homes, including apartments, as well as some ultra modern live/ work units.
Its proximity to the railway station and improved bus links make its apartments an ideal location for young people and first-time buyers.
High quality open space will be accessible to the public as well as a range of community facilities including a new multi-use community hall, central park, restaurants and bars.
Properties for rent and shared ownership have already been constructed on this development, which has been awarded a national Excellence Award for the Social Housing Development of the Year in recognition of its build quality and design layout.
In December 2009, the project was short-listed for £2m of funding by the Government as part of the second round of its Kickstart Programme. If secured, this funding will deliver 80 new homes by March 2012.
