Major improvements to the area’s transport network are moving forward. In January 2009, the Secretary of State for Transport committed £50m to ease congestion on the A14 by widening the three mile section between junctions 7 and 9 to three lanes in each direction.
Focussed on one of the busiest sections of the A14, this project will relieve congestion, improve journey times and make the route safer. It will help boost the local economy and facilitate further growth in the area.
Work is scheduled to start in late 2011 and be completed by early 2013.
