Market Square, Kettering

As part of the wider regeneration of Kettering town centre, £2.2 million has been invested in Kettering’s Market Place – transforming a disused place into a vibrant civic space. This project will be a catalyst, attracting new uses and regenerating this under used space.

The Market Square is the site for the proposed Restaurant Quarter and includes the creation of an amphitheatre, covered performance area, tree planting, fountains and a timeline of the town’s history.

This project represents the first part of Kettering’s award-winning town centre masterplan to be brought forward and will set the scene for increased investment in its shopping centre. This zonal regeneration strategy has received strong public support throughout extensive consultation and NNDC continues to work with Kettering Borough Council and other private and public partners to drive forward its delivery.

Enabling works on the second phase of the Market Place regeneration began on 5 October. This involves the reintroduction of buildings on the southern edge of the Market Place to create approximately 6,000 square ft of new restaurant space.

£2m of Growth Funding has been secured by NNDC to progress this work and the development will accommodate high quality residential properties and below ground level parking adjacent to the Market Place, which will be complete and ready for tenants in Spring 2011.
