In March 2008, Kettering Borough Council, looking for a central hub for business entrepreneurship and support, purchased Grade II-listed Chesham House in the town centre.
A major refurbishment has transformed the dilapidated building into a modern business centre with individual office suites, training and meeting rooms and hotdesking facilities.
The Chesham House Business Centre is one of the Suite 16 projects focusing on town centre regeneration. It’s the first of these projects to reach completion and, as with the other projects, its fundamental principle has been to achieve regeneration by using existing assets to lever external funding.
The centre is being run by the University of Northampton through a service level agreement and over half the business suites have already been let. The University will also use the Centre as an outreach point for the Business Link start up service supporting not only tenants but budding entrepreneurs in Kettering.
The Centre has been refurbished to high standards creating:
• 10 business suites between 215 to 446 sq ft offering separate offices,
storage and kitchenettes
• 2 meeting rooms and a training room with projectors, whiteboards
and separate kitchen
• 1 hotdesking suite with 6 workstations available on hourly or daily rates
